Ricky Skaggs will pay tribute to his country and bluegrass roots as this year's Country Music Hall of Fame Artist-in-Residence.

The honor recognizes artists who have made both large and significant contributions to American popular music, and allows the honoree to create their own shows.

Skaggs will host two concerts at the Artist-in-Residence on November 18th and 19th, and he's invited a number of special guests to join him for the shows.  The first show will have a country music focus, and will also feature Brad Paisley, Emmylou Harris, Peter Frampton and others.

Skaggs will put the spotlight on bluegrass for the second show, with some help from Alison Krauss, Del McCoury, and Bruce Hornsby.  The Whites and Skaggs' band Kentucky Thunder will take part in both shows.

The shows will take place at the Hall's new CMA Theater, and will mark the first public event at the venue.
