Jamie Lynn Spears' Favorite Things

Listen to Jamie Lynn Spears Radio on iHeartRadio

Jamie Lynn Spears has made quite the journey from Nickelodeon star to country singer. After all, music is in her blood.

After bringing her daughter Maddie into the world and marrying her husband (also named Jamie!), Spears spent some time writing tons of music. She tells iHeartRadio, "I have almost a hundred songs that I've written with the song-writing community in Nashville."

Jamie released her The Journey EP (featuring her single "How Could I Want More") in May of this year, and has solidified her musical talent with quite a few performances around the country - not to mention her duet "Chillin' With You" with big sister Britney on her latest album Britney Jean

On her budding country music career, Jamie says, "I just want to tell my story, my journey, and so I let it out there and I've been working on it so hard. It feels really scary, but it feels good too because I have had some fans that have been so patient and so supportive. And even though it's not a full album, I think these five songs are a good glimpse into where I'm at on my journey right now and I have so much more that I want to say and that I've been working on."

And keep your eyes and ears peeled, because the country cutie tells us that a full album is "the ultimate goal."

When she was in New York City recently, Jamie sat down with iHeartRadio to divulge some of her most favorite things. Check it out below!

FAVORITE COUNTRY STAR:

"I really love Loretta Lynn. She's kind of one of my favorites. I just love what she did for women and country music, so I love her."

FAVORITE SONG OF LORETTA'S:

"I really love the one that her and Conway Twitty did, 'Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man.' I love that song, because I'm a Louisiana woman."

FAVORITE VACATION SPOT:

"We have a condo in Destin, Florida and I love it there. It's only a four hour drive from where I live and it's like a second home because all of our stuff's there, so that's definitely my favorite place to go."

FAVORITE CONCERT YOU'VE ATTENDED:

"Obviously, all of my sister's concerts have been fabulous. But I went to, they did this in Nashville after the flood, they had this big concert to raise money, and it was all these country stars there and it was amazing. And then also, I went to a Garth Brooks show, to help raise money for it, and he put on such an amazing show."

FAVORITE FOOD TO BINGE EAT:

"I love boiled peanuts, the spicy kind. I could just sit there and eat them until literally my tongue hurts, they're so good. I drink like 18 pounds of water and I just, you know, have to go to the bathroom every five seconds. So they're not good for road trips. That seems to be when I eat them!"

FAVORITE NEW ARTIST:

"You know, it's hard because in country music they might be new to certain people, but people in country have been working so hard and I say this a lot, but she's been out there forever, Holly Williams, I love her. But she's not really new. I love Iggy Azalea. I love her. And she really isn't that new either, but yet she's really popular right now."

FAVORITE GUILTY PLEASURE:

"I love watching the ID Channel. It's like murder mysteries mainly.  And I could sit there and watch it for like seven hours, like on a day off. I just want to sit there and just watch every single episode that I can."

FAVORITE PERSON TO FOLLOW ON INSTAGRAM:

"It's like, I think it's like a fact thing and it like tells you all these things that are true that you would never know. And I think they're true, I hope they're true. I mean, it is Instagram, but I love that because I find out the funniest things. Like you would never know."

FAVORITE THING IN YOUR WARDROBE:

"It probably would be this Rag & Bone jacket. Everyone's like, 'You wear that jacket too much.' But it goes with everything. It's comfortable. It's not too hot, so it's definitely my Rag & Bone jean and leather jacket."

FAVORITE GIFT YOU'VE RECEIVED FROM A FAN:

"Recently a fan actually gave me this bracelet [see above], which is so cool. I've been bathing in it, I shouldn't, but it's old hymnal book pages that she rolled up and made a bracelet out of, and she made my sister one to match and I gave it to my sister. I just thought that was really thoughtful and really cool, because it's musical but then also has that religious part too. I went to a radio station and I played a few songs for some radio people and she was there. She gave this to me and I thought it was so cool. I wear it everywhere. I wear it pretty much every day. I love those kinds of things that you get. Nobody else will have them, and they mean something to me."

FAVORITE SONG ON THE JOURNEY:

"That's hard. I think it has to be my single, 'How Could I want More?' Not only because I chose it as my single, but I feel like that's where I am in my life right now, personally and professionally. I really couldn't want more!"

FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING IN LOVE/MARRIED:

"I think it's that consistency of the person no matter what. Like he's my husband, nobody else has to put up with me, but he does. So I think it's just that consistency and just knowing that you have that person. It's just a really good feeling. It feels really safe and really settled."

FAVORITE THING ON YOUR PLAYLIST:

"That is a hard one. Me and Maddie have been listening to Ariana Grande's, 'Problem.' We love that one. And it has Iggy on it too. But we love Ariana Grande. Maddie has loved her since that show on Nickelodeon. She was really confused. She was like, "Why, I don't understand why Cat is doing this."

FAVORITE PIECE OF ADVICE SOMEONE HAS GIVEN TO YOU:

"I've been given a lot of good advice. I think certain things for me to live by is like you're never too busy, there's always, you know, you make time for the things that matter. I think that's the way to live life is keeping your priorities in check. For me, with my family and being a wife and a mother, I think that's really kind of the thing that is worth remembering. You can make time, everything is possible."

FAVORITE SONG TO DANCE TO WHEN NO ONE IS WATCHING:

"Salt-n-Peppa's, 'None of Your Business.' I know. I love it. Me and my friends love it. We really do!"

FAVORITE FUNNY MOVIE TO PUT ON WHEN YOU NEED A GOOD LAUGH:

Me and my husband watch, he got me kind of into The Big Lebowski a little bit, so I've watched that a few times. Frozen, that was amazing. I mean, I put that on to put myself in a good mood, I really do. I love Olaf. He makes me laugh."

FAVORITE WAY TO WASTE TIME:

"I'm kind of a home-body, so I love just like being in my house. And I'd make up projects to do. Just like doing pointless things around the house that don't matter or doing things for Maddie, like little projects with Maddie, is just my favorite way to waste time. Just kind of stuff that let's me be a kid again and just escape, you know, everyday life."

FAVORITE CITY TO WAKE UP IN:

"Home. Nothing better than waking up in my own bed being at home."

*Side note: Jamie lives in Louisiana.

FAVORITE THING TO DO WITH YOUR SISTER:

First off, we have our sisterly catch-up on how you're doing. And then I think we like to pretend like we are like really funny or something. So we both like sit there and play off each other and act like we're comedians and think of all these ideas of movies we should do together. So that's kind of fun. We're silly. And just hanging out with our kids too."

FAVORITE MEMORY OF YOU AND BRITNEY:

"There's so many great memories that I had with her. I mean, she was really amazing with including me in every part of everything she did. There's just so many great ones. But there was this trip she took me and my mom for Christmas. We knew we were taking the trip, but we were surprised. My aunt had cancer at the time, so she couldn't really go anywhere and my sister got a private plane and flew us all out to Nevis, West Indies. It was one of those trips that was truly magical. And she just did it for us. That whole trip was a really amazing memory. It was kind of like our last trip we really got to spend with my aunt before she got really sick, so it was really special."
